Indian-origin woman held in Canada for $60,000 rental scam
An Indian-origin woman has been arrested in Canada after police uncovered a rental scam that left dozens of prospective tenants without homes and out of more than $60,000, CTV News reported.
According to Peel Regional Police , the accused allegedly advertised rental properties, including basement apartments, on social media between May 2025 and February 2026. People who responded to the listings signed tenancy agreements and paid deposits covering the first and last month's rent.
