Woman Alleges Encounter With Uber Driver Masturbating In Car, Company Fires Him Later
Picture wrapping up a long day at work, longing for a peaceful ride home. But for a 26-year-old woman, this ordinary wish turned into a nightmare when she claimed that an Uber driver masturbated behind the wheel while she sat in the backseat. Hailing from Australia , Tayla Pimlott was heading home from work in the city’s central business district at approximately 3:30 p.m. when something caught her attention from the rear, prompting her to look up from her phone.
To her shock, she alleged that her driver appeared to be pleasuring himself while driving. "Usually when someone takes their pants down, they adjust or something. I saw none of that, I just saw this subtle hand movement," she recounted to Yahoo News. "I could clearly see that he [the Uber driver] had his penis out and he was masturbating ."
Taken aback by the scene, Tayla considered her options, from contacting the authorities to confronting the driver or trying to exit the moving vehicle. However, fearing for her safety, she refrained from direct confrontation. Instead, she quickly messaged her mother and boyfriend, informing them of the situation and sharing the live link for her Uber ride.
Upon arriving home, where her mother was waiting, she had to ask the driver to unlock the doors.
"He fully turned around and looked at me, and in the creepiest voice I've ever heard, he goes, 'Thank you so much'," she recalled. In a state of sheer horror, she managed a weak "You're welcome" before hastily exiting the Uber.
Though the incident allegedly occurred last October, Tayla opted to share her ordeal now, amidst heightened national attention on gendered harassment and violence.
Upon learning of the incident, Uber swiftly denounced the act and banned the driver from its platform.
"What's been reported has no place in the Uber community or anywhere else," Uber stated in a communication to Yahoo News. "As soon as we were notified of this report, we removed the driver partner's access to the app immediately and permanently."
