Measuring just 0.05 millimetres in length, two sperm from different individuals will compete on a 20-centimetre track, simulating a woman’s reproductive system. The race, though unpredictable in its duration, could last anywhere from a few minutes to several hours, given sperm’s average speed of 5 millimetres per minute.
