'Yeh Dil Maange More': Kargil hero Capt Vikram Batra's brother captures 24-yr-old's life and sacrifice through his new book
NEW DELHI: As India celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas on Sunday to mark the anniversary of India's military victory over Pakistan in the 1999 war, honouring Operation Vijay and remembering the bravery of the Indian armed forces, one can’t forget the sacrifices of Kargil hero Captain Vikram Batra .
Served in the 13th Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, Capt Batra, with "Sher Shah" (Lion) as code word during Kargil operations, first captured strategic peak Point 5140 and famously used the radio catchphrase “Yeh Dil Maange More!” upon victory. However, during a daring assault on Pakistani troops to recapture Point 4875 despite high fever and fatigue, Capt Batra was fatally wounded while saving a fellow office and died on July 7, 1999.
