Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 1: Check Voting Date, Time, And Key Constituencies

India gears up for the kickoff of the much-awaited Lok Sabha Elections 2024 , marking the commencement of the seven-phase electoral process. A total of 102 constituencies spanning 21 states and union territories (UTs) are poised for voting in the inaugural phase of the 18th LS Elections. While 10 states and UTs are set for full coverage, 11 others will witness partial electoral activity.
Notable states on the ballot in Phase 1 include Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand.

Scheduled Dates and Timings for Phase 1 Voting

The polling for the initial phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections is slated to kick off on April 19. As per the Election Commission ’s outlined timeline, subsequent phases will follow on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20 and May 25, and finally culminate on June 1. The crucial counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.

Voting operations are set to commence at 8:00 am and wrap up at 5:00 pm on April 19. An additional hour has been allocated as a grace period for voters already queued up at polling stations.

In tandem with the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim are also slated to unfold concurrently during this electoral window.

Constituencies Scheduled for Phase 1 Voting

Phase 1 of the elections will encompass 102 constituencies spread across 21 states and union territories. Among these, 10 states and UTs will be fully covered, while 11 will be partially covered. Here's a breakdown of the constituencies:

Who are the key contenders?

In the first phase, both Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh are slated to exercise their electoral franchise to elect their respective assemblies.

Noteworthy battles are anticipated in Tamil Nadu, a state contributing 39 members to the Lok Sabha. Among the prominent candidates are former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan contesting from Chennai South, DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran from Chennai Central, former Union minister A Raja from Nilgiri, and Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai from Coimbatore.

Meanwhile, in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Union minister Jitendra Singh is a prominent contender vying for the Udhampur seat. Also, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is seeking re-election from Nagpur for the third consecutive term.

In Assam, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal is locked in a fierce electoral battle from Dibrugarh, while Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi is contesting from Jorhat.
