This move allowed young talent like Tilak Varma to make his ODI debut, with Mohammed Shami , Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur, and Suryakumar Yadav joining the lineup.

Prioritising Preparation for the ICC World Cup 2023
Rohit Sharma explained the rationale behind this strategic choice, emphasising that they aimed to provide valuable game time to the players while keeping the bigger picture, the ICC World Cup 2023, in mind. He stressed that they didn't compromise on their game plan and were keen on integrating those who might play a pivotal role in the upcoming global event.

"We wanted to give some game time to the guys, keeping the bigger picture in mind. Not compromising on how we wanted to play this game. Get in some players who are likely to play the World Cup," he stated.

Praising Batting Performances
Despite the loss, Rohit Sharma had words of praise for the batting performances of Shubman Gill and Axar Patel. Shubman Gill's remarkable century, a thunderous knock of 121 runs, showcased his impeccable skills with the bat.

Rohit highlighted Gill's consistency and confidence in his game, underlining his exceptional form over the past year. Gill's proficiency against the new ball and his unwavering commitment to improvement were also acknowledged.

"Axar batted brilliantly but couldn't finish. He showed a lot of character. But credit to the Bangladesh bowlers. Gill's hundred was brilliant. He backs his game, he knows exactly how he wants to play. Pretty clear on what he wants to do for the team. Look at his form over the last year. Pretty solid against the new ball. Works really hard, there's no optional practice for Gill," Rohit added.
