Users Face Error Messages As YouTube Takes Action Against Ad Blockers

YouTube has initiated measures to combat third-party apps that circumvent ads . According to an official statement from the Google-owned video platform, certain users accessing YouTube via third-party apps will soon encounter an error message reading, ‘The following content is not available on this app,’ when attempting to view a video.

"We want to emphasise that our terms don’t allow third-party apps to turn off ads because that prevents the creator from being rewarded for viewership, and Ads on YouTube help support creators and let billions of people around the world use the streaming service," states YouTube. The company urges users to consider subscribing to YouTube Premium for an entirely ad-free experience.

YouTube intends to blacklist apps employing APIs to block ads, as this practice contravenes its terms of service . The company underscores that "when we find an app that violates these terms, we will take appropriate action to protect our platform, creators, and viewers."

Consequently, popular third-party apps offering an ad-free YouTube experience may cease to function soon. YouTube has been actively cracking down on such apps, sometimes resorting to blocking users' Google accounts. If you're accustomed to using a third-party app for YouTube, now might be the opportune moment to revert to the official platform.

YouTube Premium is priced at Rs 129 per month for individual users. Student and family plans offer discounted subscription rates, and there's also an annual subscription option priced at Rs 1,200. Additionally, YouTube Premium subscribers can enjoy ad-free music streaming on YouTube Music.
