BMW i5 LWB EV Launched In India At ₹79.60 Lakh With 669 km Range
BMW has expanded its electric vehicle line-up in India with the launch of the BMW i5 LWB EV . The long-wheelbase luxury sedan has arrived at an introductory price of ₹79.60 lakh, ex-showroom, and is being offered exclusively in the eDrive 35L M Sport variant.
The new model also marks BMW's first locally assembled electric sedan in India. Bookings for the i5 LWB began in August 2026.
The electric sedan uses a rear-wheel-drive layout, with its motor producing 268 hp and 410 Nm of torque. Despite its large luxury-sedan proportions, the i5 LWB can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 195 km/h.

This combination of a sizeable battery, long claimed range and relatively quick charging gives the electric sedan a strong focus on long-distance usability.
Other highlights include four-zone climate control, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting and a panoramic glass roof. Rear passengers get separate air-conditioning controls, while a 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system is also available.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB Type-C ports and BMW Digital Key add further convenience.
The sedan also gets a tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, smartphone-based remote parking and a 360-degree camera.
Its design remains close to the standard i5, although the LWB version gets an illuminated grille, revised front and rear bumpers and a new alloy wheel design. The M Sport package adds M-specific bumpers, an M steering wheel and two-tone leather upholstery. Adaptive air suspension is also fitted at the rear.
With its combination of 669 km range, luxury equipment, fast charging and strong performance, the BMW i5 LWB EV arrives as a premium electric sedan aimed at buyers seeking both comfort and everyday usability.

Fast Charging Support
The BMW i5 LWB supports 160 kW DC fast charging. BMW claims the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 33 minutes.This combination of a sizeable battery, long claimed range and relatively quick charging gives the electric sedan a strong focus on long-distance usability.
Premium Interior Packed With Technology
Inside, the BMW i5 LWB gets a technology-focused cabin with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.Other highlights include four-zone climate control, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting and a panoramic glass roof. Rear passengers get separate air-conditioning controls, while a 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system is also available.
