Maruti Victoris SUV Launch Tomorrow: A Strong Rival to Hyundai Creta with Hybrid and CNG Options
The middle-class car buyers in India are set to receive good news as Maruti Suzuki gears up to launch its all-new SUV on September 3, 2025. Ahead of its official debut, the SUV’s name has already been leaked online. Internally codenamed Y17, the vehicle will officially be called Maruti Victoris. The name surfaced briefly through Maruti Suzuki’s official website on Google search results, confirming the identity of this highly anticipated compact SUV.
The Maruti Victoris will be retailed through Maruti’s Arena dealership network and positioned strategically between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara in the company’s SUV lineup. Built on Suzuki’s Global-C platform (the same platform used for the Grand Vitara), the Victoris promises cost efficiency, improved safety, and a wide range of premium features already seen in the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.
With a length expected to slightly exceed the Grand Vitara’s 4,345 mm, the Victoris will directly challenge the Hyundai Creta (4,330 mm) and Kia Seltos (4,365 mm). It will also lock horns with upcoming facelifted models such as the 2026 Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. The larger body dimensions are likely to provide better boot space and cabin comfort
The Victoris will share its engines with the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. Engine options include:
-
1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (103 PS, 139 Nm), paired with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox, along with Suzuki’s All-Grip AWD system as an option.
-
1.5-litre strong hybrid powertrain (115.5 PS) combined with an e-CVT transmission for higher fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
-
CNG variant, delivering 88 PS in CNG mode, catering to the growing demand for economical fuel choices.
Although Maruti has not revealed the complete feature list yet, the Victoris is expected to carry over several advanced features from the Grand Vitara, such as:
-
Panoramic sunroof
-
Large infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
-
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
-
Multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control
-
Premium interior design with spacious seating and enhanced boot capacity
Maruti Suzuki is expected to price the Victoris competitively to target middle-class buyers, offering multiple trims including petrol, hybrid, and CNG options. This strategy will allow the brand to capture a wide customer base, especially those who seek value-for-money SUVs with modern features.
