Check When and Where Banks Will Be Closed During Chhath Puja

The festive season is drawing to a close with Bhai Dooj being celebrated across the country today, followed by Chhath Puja. Banks in many cities remain closed on October 23rd for Bhai Dooj and will continue to stay shut over the next few days for Chhath Puja. If you plan to visit a bank during this period, make sure to check your city’s holiday schedule before heading out.

It’s worth noting that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes an official list of bank holidays, specifying which banks are closed on which days across different cities and states. Before visiting a bank, check the RBI holiday list to plan your trip accordingly.

Chhath Puja Bank Holiday

This year, Chhath Puja will be observed from October 25th to 28th. Since October 25th falls on the fourth Saturday of the month, banks will be closed nationwide. Banks will also remain closed on October 26th, as it is a Sunday.

27 October Bank Holiday

Chhath Puja will continue on Monday, October 27th. Accordingly, the RBI has declared a bank holiday in select cities. Banks in West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand will remain closed on this day, while they will operate as usual in all other states.

28 October Bank Holiday

On Tuesday, October 28th, banks in Bihar and Jharkhand will remain closed in observance of Chhath Puja. Customers in these states should plan their banking activities accordingly. Banks in all other states will continue to operate as usual, without any holiday disruptions.


Are banks open on October 24?

Speaking of tomorrow, October 24th, banks will remain open across the country as the RBI has not declared any bank holiday. So, if you have any banking tasks or plan to visit a branch, you can do so without any interruptions.
