Delhi woke up to some sunshine on Friday, but the Yamuna’s fury was far from over. Despite a slight dip in the river’s water level, large parts of the capital and its neighboring regions remained waterlogged.
Relief camps have been set up near Mayur Vihar-1, though floodwater had entered some shelters earlier. Residents from low-lying areas continue to be shifted to safer locations.
“Arrangements for food, including milk for infants, have been made for the rescued families,” said Saurabh Bhatt, Additional District Magistrate (Finance), adding that protecting the embankments is the top priority. Ambulances, health teams, and medicines have also been stationed in the flood-hit zone.
For now, while the river shows signs of calming, Delhi-NCR continues to wade through the aftermath of its overflowing waters.
