Dwarka Road Accident: Father Admits Teen Son’s Role In Fatal Biker Crash
In the ongoing Dwarka road accident case, the father of a Delhi teenager allegedly involved in the fatal February 3 collision has acknowledged his son’s role in the tragedy, expressed deep remorse and apologised to the victim’s family. The accident in Dwarka involved an SUV, reportedly driven by the minor without a valid driving licence, which rammed into a motorcycle near Lal Bahadur Shastri College. The crash claimed the life of 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra and left a taxi driver injured.
Speaking to news agencies about the Delhi minor accident case, the accused teenager’s father said, “This is my son’s mistake, and I apologise for it,” adding that he would abide by the legal process. He clarified that both his son and daughter were inside the vehicle at the time of the fatal SUV crash. Addressing reports about a social media recording, he stated that his daughter was merely taking a brief video and was not filming a reel, as suggested in some reports.
The father further explained that the family operates a commercial transport business. He maintained that previous traffic challans issued against the SUV were linked to hired drivers and not his son. “This is a heartbreaking incident. He is very disturbed. There is deep grief in the entire family, for that family as well as for ourselves,” he said. He also emphasised that the family has fully cooperated with the police investigation and submitted all required documents related to the vehicle and the February 3 collision.
Meanwhile, the defence counsel representing the teenager has drawn criticism for seeking leniency. The lawyer described the minor as a studious child under immense academic pressure, with board examinations currently underway. The defence also asserted that the teenager did not flee the scene after the Dwarka accident and denied allegations of any attempt to cover up the incident.
