R B Udhayakumar's mother passes away at 74

Madurai: Senior AIADMK leader and deputy leader of opposition R B Udhayakumar 's mother B Meenal Ammal , treasurer of Amma Charitable Trust , passed away at the age of 74 in Madurai on Monday due to illness.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami , who visited Meenal Ammal in hospital last week, offered his heartfelt condolences to Udhayakumar and his family members over a phone call. He said that he was deeply saddened to hear about her passing.

The mortal remains of Meenal Ammal were taken to the Amma Kovil at Kunnathur for leaders and the public to pay their respects. AIADMK's Dindigul C Sreenivasan, Natham Viswanathan, K T Rajendra Balaji, Kadambur Raju, and others paid tributes.

AIADMK leaders, including S P Velumani, Sellur K Raju, MDMK's Vaiko and minister Thangam Thennarasu conveyed their condolences over the phone. AMMK leader T T V Dhinakaran offered condolences in a social media post.

Later in the evening, the mortal remains of Meenal Ammal were taken in a procession and laid to rest.
