  • The suspension of services is required to facilitate the safe launching of a heavy girder on Bridge No. 3, situated between Sealdah and Bidhannagar Road stations. The infrastructure block will begin at 22:15 hrs on Saturday, 6 June 2026, and is expected to draw to a close at 13:15 hrs on Sunday, 7 June 2026.

Short Terminations Introduced to Limit Passenger Chaos

In an effort to keep the wider network moving, railway planners have organised a series of short terminations and originations. Rather than cancelling long-distance suburban routes completely, several trains will terminate before reaching the affected construction zone.

On Saturday night, the Gede–Sealdah Local (31926 DN) will terminate early at Barrackpore, with Sunday's return service (31911 UP) originating from the same station. Similarly, services on the Bangaon line (33858 DN) will terminate at Dum Dum Cantonment, with the Sunday UP service (33815) originating there.

Concurrently, services on the Shantipur and Krishnanagar City lines will see journeys cut short. The 31540 DN from Shantipur will terminate at Kalyani on Saturday, returning as the 31511 UP from Kalyani on Sunday.

On Sunday, the 31315 UP Kalyani Simanta service and the 31512 DN Shantipur service will terminate early at Naihati, with their respective return legs (30128 DN and 31513 UP) originating from Naihati as well. The 31838 DN Krishnanagar City local will also short terminate at Ranaghat on Saturday night. Regular timetables are expected to be phased back into operation on Sunday afternoon, following the formal completion of the bridge works at 13:15 hrs.
