Watch: Kerala Woman Drives Family To Ladakh In A Caravan, Internet Applauds
A woman from Kerala is winning hearts online with her incredible road trip video—from lush green Kerala all the way to the rugged terrains of Ladakh—in a custom-built caravan. Her clip has racked up nearly 54 million views on Instagram, and for good reason.
The caravan is no ordinary ride. It's a cozy home on wheels with bunk beds, a kitchen, cupboards, a fridge—and lots of heart. Based on a BharatBenz or Mercedes-Benz chassis, the vehicle has premium bodywork and stylish headlights, making it as sleek as it is homely.

The internet is in awe. One viewer called it a “dream travel,” while another admitted, “Watching Your video From 6 months without understanding Language.” Some users are curious about the cost, while others are simply moved: “One day I will see you in person. It is a good feeling to watch your video. It is like my people who left me.”
The viral journey belongs to Jalaja and Ratheesh, a truck-driving couple from Ettumanoor, Kerala. They run the popular Puthettu Travel Vlog on YouTube, boasting 5.63 lakh subscribers and over 6.5 lakh Instagram followers. Their content is a warm mix of highway life, truck adventures, cooking, and heartfelt stories from the road.
Jalaja’s story is especially inspiring. A homemaker for 19 years, she shocked her husband on their anniversary by expressing a dream—to travel with him across India, especially to Kashmir. Ratheesh agreed—but only if she drove. Though she had a heavy vehicle licence since 2018, she had never driven a truck.
She took the challenge head-on. Ten days later, they reached Kashmir. That one trip changed everything.
Since then, Jalaja has driven across 22 states, union territories like Ladakh, and even countries like Nepal and Bhutan. Her courage and spirit have inspired her sister-in-law and daughter to become truck drivers too. Their business, Puthettu Travels, now runs 27 trucks.
Jalaja and Ratheesh drive in shifts, cook on a portable stove, and share the open road. One of her favourite trips? Nepal—sparked by her love for the 1992 Malayalam classic Yoddha starring Mohanlal.
From homemaker to highway star, Jalaja’s journey is not just about roads—but about rewriting roles, one mile at a time.
