Aamir Khan Faces Fatwa: Why a UP Cleric Claims His Third Marriage Violates Sharia Law

Just days after celebrating an intimate wedding with family and close friends, Bollywood icon Aamir Khan has found himself at the center of a major religious and political controversy. A cleric based in Uttar Pradesh has officially issued a fatwa against the actor, objecting to his interfaith marriage to Bengaluru-based beauty and wellness entrepreneur Gauri Spratt.

The Cleric's Objection

Maulana Chaudhary Ifrahim Hussain, the Shahi Chief Mufti of the Muslim Personal Darul Ifta, issued the decree after a video surfaced of him objecting to the wedding. The cleric asserted that under his interpretation of Sharia law, a Muslim man is strictly forbidden from marrying a non-Muslim woman unless she embraces Islam first. He labeled the union a "sin" and criticized the actor's history of multiple marriages, claiming it sets a poor example.

Aamir Khan Rejects Conversion Rumors

The fatwa follows political friction, including comments from Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane, who raised "love jihad" allegations regarding the union.
