Mumbai glittered on Monday night as Karan Johar hosted a star-studded premiere of Homebound , India’s official entry to the Oscars 2026 . The film, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and starring Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor , and Vishal Jethwa, hits theatres this weekend.



Janhvi’s Saree Tribute to Sridevi

All eyes were on Janhvi Kapoor, who made a heartfelt fashion statement by wearing a saree once owned by her late mother, the legendary Sridevi.

The royal blue and black drape with intricate gold embroidery was the same piece Sridevi wore at Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s wedding reception in 2017. Back then, the actress had proudly shared pictures on Instagram with the caption, "Wearing my favourite @manishmalhotra05."

Janhvi on Homebound’s Oscar Journey

The Oscar announcement added even more shine to the night. Sharing her joy, Janhvi wrote on social media:
"Every part of this film has been nothing short of a dream. The journey, the people, what this story means, and how personal it’s been for everyone in our team. At every step I have been thankful I could witness this journey, which in my mind was truly the reward in itself. Road to the Oscars

With its official selection, Homebound will compete against international contenders for a spot in the Best Foreign Film category at the 2026 Academy Awards. Fans will know by January 22, 2026, if the film secures a coveted nomination.
