Jumanji: Open World Trailer Out: The Rock, Kevin Hart Return for Epic Final Adventure
Sony Pictures has released the debut trailer for Jumanji: Open World , bringing back the powerhouse quartet of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kevin Hart , Jack Black, and Karen Gillan for what is billed as the ultimate entry in the blockbuster fantasy-action trilogy. Accompanied by the dramatic slogan "One. Last. Game. The final countdown begins," the upcoming chapter flips the established premise on its head.
In the previous two films, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), teenage players were pulled into an old video game console and transformed into adult avatars. This time, the magic breaks free from the digital realm, bringing wild beasts, jungle hazards, and game mechanics directly into quiet suburban streets.
Director Jake Kasdan returns to helm the project, working from a script co-written with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Beyond the core quartet, the ensemble cast sees the return of Danny DeVito, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Rhys Darby, Lamorne Morris, and the original teenage cast led by Alex Wolff.
The third film also pays homage to the 1995 original starring the late Robin Williams. A subtle Easter egg featured in production material shows Dr Bravestone wearing a necklace made from the original wooden board game’s dice, acknowledging the franchise's origins in Chris Van Allsburg’s classic 1981 children’s book.
The revised scheduling puts Jumanji: Open World directly in competition with major international releases. Most notably, the movie sets up a head-to-head box office battle against Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan ’s upcoming action thriller King, which is scheduled to hit cinemas globally during the same holiday window.
