Rani Mukerji’s Elegant Sabyasachi Saree and Heartfelt Necklace Shine at 71st National Film Awards

Rani Mukerji looked radiant as she received the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for her stellar performance in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway at the 71st National Film Awards on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. The ceremony, hosted at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, brought together the finest of Indian cinema, including Shah Rukh Khan , Vikrant Massey, Mohanlal, Ekta Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Guneet Monga.

For the special occasion, Mukerji chose a brown heritage saree by couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee, featuring an intricately embroidered gold border that paid tribute to India’s rich craftsmanship. She paired it with a minimalist blouse of the same shade, achieving a perfect balance between timeless elegance and contemporary style.




Complementing the ensemble, Rani accessorised with a double-layered choker, dangling earrings, and a delicate gold chain customised with her daughter Adira’s name a subtle yet heartfelt touch that highlighted her love for her child. Fans couldn’t miss the personal charm of the necklace, which beautifully echoed the theme of motherhood in her award-winning film.




Mukerji’s makeup was understated yet glamorous, with kohl-rimmed eyes, pink-nude lips, and a matte brown lipstick that enhanced her natural features. Her hair, left straightened with a middle parting, completed the sophisticated yet effortless look.



Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway tells the emotional story of a mother fighting to regain custody of her children after Norwegian authorities take them away. Rani’s powerful performance in the film earned her this prestigious recognition, cementing her reputation as one of the most versatile and compelling actors in Indian cinema.




At the awards, Rani was seated between Shah Rukh Khan, who won Best Actor for Jawan, and Vikrant Massey, who received the same accolade for 12th Fail. The 71st National Film Awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu, celebrating cinematic excellence across India in a memorable evening of glamour, talent, and heartfelt storytelling.
