Nepal is witnessing severe political and social unrest, leading to unprecedented disruption in air travel and heightened security measures. Demonstrations that escalated on Tuesday forced authorities to suspend all flight operations, throwing passengers and airlines into uncertainty.


Airports Shut Down Across Nepal


All airports in Nepal, including the busy Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, have been shut since Tuesday afternoon. No flights have taken off or landed since 2 pm, leaving hundreds of travellers stranded. Authorities will reassess the situation on Wednesday afternoon before deciding whether to reopen.

Army Takes Control of Security


With protests intensifying, the Nepalese Army has assumed control inside and outside major airports. While the military presence aims to safeguard both passengers and aircraft, officials warn that the security situation remains serious.

India Issues Travel Advisory for Citizens


In light of the deteriorating situation in Nepal, the Indian government has issued a travel advisory for its citizens, recommending that they postpone any non-essential travel to the country. Air India has also cancelled its flights to Kathmandu. These actions have been taken to ensure the safety of Indian citizens who are either stranded in Nepal or planning to travel there.
