The meals are cooked in the simplest ways, using the fresh ingredients, firewood and water from the sacred well. No onions, garlic or modern vegetables but the method used is unique.
The temple’s kitchen method to cook the food which is known as the seven pots on top of each other method. In this seven pots are stacked one above another and are cooked over the same firewood. But here comes the interesting part, the top most vessel cooks the fastest and then followed by the next, leaving everyone in shock and the seventh vessel which is the nearest to the fire gets cooked at the last.

The Ratha Yatra

The massive annual chariot festival is well known around the world. In this all the three deities are taken from the main temple to the gundicha temple believed to be their aunt’s house. The deities stay there for 7 days before returning from the main temple, a return trip known as the Bahuda Yatra.

The three wooden chariots are completely built from scratch every year.
