Monsoon Alert: Rain, Thunderstorms to Hit Delhi-NCR, UP, Punjab and Haryana; 4-Day Forecast Inside
The latest monsoon alert has brought welcome relief from rising temperatures across several parts of India. Instead of the intense heat usually experienced in early June, many regions are witnessing cooler weather due to rainfall, cloud cover and gusty winds. A noticeable drop in maximum temperatures has been recorded in Delhi-NCR and neighbouring states, making conditions significantly more comfortable for residents.
According to the Meteorological Department, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is expected to continue across Delhi and adjoining areas from June 2 to June 5. Similar weather conditions are likely to affect several northern, central and southern states over the coming days. Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon is expected to reach Kerala within the next two to three days, signalling further progress of the rainy season across the country.
Delhi-NCR to Witness Rain, Thunderstorms and Strong Winds
Weather experts say the start of June has been unusually pleasant in Delhi, making it one of the coolest beginnings to the month in recent years. Light showers and thunderstorm activity are expected on June 2 and June 3, keeping temperatures in check.
A more significant weather change is likely between June 4 and June 6, when several areas across Delhi-NCR may experience rain, lightning, dust storms and strong winds. Parts of Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh are also expected to be affected by this system.
Weather conditions are likely to improve from June 8 onwards, with temperatures gradually climbing again and the possibility of heat returning to the region.
Weather Advisory for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand
The hilly states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall over the next few days. Strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning activity may accompany these showers.
Authorities have advised travellers and tourists to exercise caution between June 3 and June 5, as heavy rain in some areas could trigger hailstorms and increase the risk of landslides.
Uttar Pradesh Weather Forecast: Rain to Continue Till June 5
Several districts in western Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive rainfall on June 3 and June 4. Areas including Noida and Ghaziabad remain under alert for rain and gusty winds.
On June 2, thunderstorms accompanied by rain and lightning are likely in parts of Agra, Firozabad, Etawah and Hamirpur. Similar weather activity may also affect Lalitpur and Jhansi.
The current wet spell is expected to continue until June 5, after which drier weather conditions may return across much of the state.
