As per the Reserve Bank of India's official holiday calendar, June 25, 2026 (Thursday) is a normal working day for banks nationwide. The Muharram bank holiday has been scheduled for June 26, 2026 (Friday) across the majority of states and cities in India.
According to the RBI's state-wise schedule, bank branches will stay shut on June 26 in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, and Vijayawada.
At the state level, the holiday applies to Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Tripura, and Mizoram. States such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya will only observe the standard Saturday and Sunday weekend closures.
Customers are advised to complete any urgent branch-related work, such as cheque deposits, demand drafts, or RTGS initiations, by June 25 to avoid delays.
It is worth noting that RTGS transactions initiated at a physical branch counter will not be processed on holidays or mandatory Saturdays. Only transactions submitted through the bank's online platforms will be accepted during these periods.

Three-Day Banking Disruption: June 26 to 28
The Muharram holiday on June 26 leads directly into the fourth Saturday on June 27, which is a mandatory nationwide bank holiday for all scheduled and non-scheduled banks, followed by the regular Sunday closure on June 28. What Banking Services Stay Available?
While physical branches will be shut, most banking needs can still be met through digital channels. Services such as UPI payments, internet banking, mobile banking apps, and ATM withdrawals will continue to function normally throughout the holiday period. Fund transfers via NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS through online platforms are also expected to remain operational without disruption.It is worth noting that RTGS transactions initiated at a physical branch counter will not be processed on holidays or mandatory Saturdays.
