SBI Volunteers Transform School Premises During Swachh Utsav 2025 Celebrations

In a commendable effort to promote hygiene and civic responsibility, the Kannagi Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Villianur recently underwent a significant makeover. As part of the nationwide campaign 'Swachh Utsav – Swachhata Hi Seva 2025', volunteers from the State Bank of India’s Villianur branch took the initiative to enhance the school’s surroundings. According to experts, such activities not only encourage cleanliness but also foster community engagement and environmental awareness among students and residents alike.

Swachh Utsav Campaign Overview

The fortnight-long campaign, conducted under the directive of the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, aims to strengthen the Swachh Bharat mission by actively involving institutions and corporate entities. SBI’s Villianur branch took a proactive role, mobilising staff and volunteers to improve the school’s infrastructure, sanitation facilities, and overall cleanliness. Campaigns like these have gained momentum across India, reinforcing the importance of hygiene as a civic duty.

Hands-On Participation From SBI Staff

Volunteers from SBI, including officers and support staff, personally participated in scrubbing classrooms, arranging study areas, and cleaning the premises. M. Natarajan, Regional Manager of SBI’s Regional Business Office in Puducherry, highlighted the significance of corporate involvement in community initiatives. Branch Manager Rajadurai Venkatesan and former Assistant General Manager Kavichudar P. Kumaravel actively supervised the project, ensuring effective coordination between volunteers and school staff.
