Following Google's footprint, Reliance Industries secured 850 acres near the city to construct a giga-scale data centre campus and subsea cable landing station in a project valued at over Rs 1 lakh crore. Meanwhile, Sify Technologies has begun construction on its own AI-edge facility, expanding toward a planned 500MW capacity. Geography plays a central role in Vizag's rapid rise. The city's extensive coastline makes it an ideal landing point for international subsea fibre-optic cable systems. Projects like Google's America-India Connect initiative plan to build direct underwater links connecting Visakhapatnam with major digital transit points across Australia, South Africa, West Asia, Europe, and the US.
