SBI expands AI-powered banking with smarter digital services for retail and business customers
SBI AI-powered banking has taken a major leap forward as the country's largest public sector bank unveiled a series of intelligent digital solutions to enhance customer experience across retail and corporate banking. Announced on the occasion of the bank's 71st Foundation Day, the latest upgrades focus on artificial intelligence, seamless digital onboarding, sustainability and business banking innovation, reinforcing SBI's vision of creating a smarter and more accessible banking ecosystem for its over 53 crore customers.
SBI introduces smarter digital journeys on YONO
State Bank of India has expanded the capabilities of its flagship YONO platform by introducing several new digital journeys aimed at making everyday banking quicker and more convenient.
One of the biggest additions is a 3-in-1 digital onboarding process, allowing new customers to open a savings account, demat account and trading account with SBICAP Securities Ltd in a single online journey. The integrated process removes the need for multiple applications and significantly simplifies account opening.
Existing customers have also received a boost. Eligible users can now convert their regular savings account into a Corporate Salary Account or upgrade an existing salary account online without visiting an SBI branch.
Industry-first green banking feature launched
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, SBI has introduced a sustainability-focused feature on the YONO app that encourages environmentally responsible banking habits.
Customers can now view the estimated carbon emissions saved by choosing digital banking services over traditional paper-based transactions. The platform also generates a monthly Green Score, enabling users to track their contribution towards sustainable living while managing their finances digitally.
The initiative reflects SBI's growing emphasis on combining financial services with environmental awareness.
Business banking receives a major AI upgrade
SBI has also strengthened its business banking platform with a significant expansion of eTrade on YONO Business.
The bank has integrated its complete Trade Finance suite into the mobile platform, allowing businesses to access trade-related banking services directly from their smartphones. The move is expected to improve convenience for enterprises by making trade finance more accessible and efficient.
YONO Ji : SBI's new AI-powered virtual assistant
A key highlight of the announcement is the launch of YONO Ji, an Agentic AI-powered virtual assistant designed specifically for YONO Business users.
