Durga Puja holds a great religious and spiritual significance in Hinduism. It is believed to be one of the most luckiest days. On this auspicious day, the demon king Mahishasur was vanquished by the Goddess. West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Odisha, and Bihar are the states that celebrate this event the most lavishly. Beginning with Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwina, Durga Puja is be celebrated for five days in a row. It will end with Dussehra and Durga Visarjan , which are observed on Dashami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the same month. The Durga Puja event is scheduled to start on September 27 and end with Durga Visarjan i.e., on October 2, 2023.

Durga Puja 2025: CelebrationOne of the major Hindu festivals, Durga Puja, is celebrated with great fervor and grandeur by devotees. On the sixth day of Navratri, people bring an idol of Goddess Durga home, worship her for five days in a row, and then perform Durga Visarjan on Viajaydashami day. Devotees commemorate these days with great excitement and happiness by decorating their home and inviting friends, family, and neighbors.

During these days, Bengalis perform various rituals and pujas to honor of the Mahishasur Mardini form of Goddess Durga. The women prepare various dishes and offer Maa Durga with bhog prasadam. Idols of Goddess Laxmi, Saraswati, and Lord Ganesha are also installed alongside Goddess Durga. Married women first offer vermillion to Goddess Durga during the grand festival of Sindoor Khela on the final day of Durga Visarjan. They then apply vermillion to other married women and it is believed that Goddess Durga bestow upon them with good fortune and a good life.
