Dussehra 2025 : Vijayadashami , known as Dussehra, is a very important religious festival, when Lord Rama defeated the demon king Ravana. Across the nation, this day is commemorated with a lot of fanfare and flamboyance. On the auspicious day of Dussehra, people worship Lord Rama. In 2025, during the month of Ashwina, on Dashami Tithi of Shukla Paksha, Dussehra is celebrated. This year, on October 2, 2025, Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, will be celebrated across the country.

Vijayadashami 2025: Puja Rituals and Significance
Dussehra holds a great religious significance among Hindus. All around the nation, people celebrate this event with a great deal of zeal and passion. People pray to Lord Rama on this auspicious day. On this day, good triumphs over evil. On the tenth day of the Navratri celebration, people celebrate Dussehra.
The triumph of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura is also celebrated on this day. This festival is called Vijayadashami because it is the day of triumph over evil. Twenty days later, on Diwali, Lord Rama returns to his hometown, Ayodhya after defeating the demon Ravana.
Dussehra 2025: Celebration
In North India, the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnad are burned on the day of Vijajdashami, and people perform Ram Leela for nine days. A large number of people visit these fairs.
In South India, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala, all celebrate the Golu festival. Goddess Chamundeshwari is worshipped on this auspicious day. Accodring to the Muhurat, people also do Ayudh Puja. Young children attend school and worship books at Ayudha Puja.
In Andhra Pradesh, people honor their elders by presenting them with shami tree leaves on this auspicious day of Vijayadashami. Those who are enthusiastic also take part in the boat festival, called Theppotsvam.
In West Bengal, before conducting Durga Visarjan on the same day as Vijayadashami, they worship Goddess Durga and play sindoor khela.
In Kerala, this day is known as Vidhyarambham Day in Kerala. Little children were introduced to schooling on this exact day. On this auspicious day, they learn how to write their names.
