Ganesh Visarjan 2025: Significance
One of the most sacred days in Hinduism is Ganesh Visarjan. On this day, followers of the Lord Ganpati give him farewell. In order to appease Ganesh Ji, people worship him for ten days in a row and perform numerous puja rituals. On the eleventh day, which is the last day, they bid Ganpati Ji farewell and submerge the idol in water, such as a river, pond, or the sea. Many devotees even carry out this ceremony at home by building a pond.
In addition to seeking Lord Ganesha's blessings, devotees celebrate Ganesh Visarjan Day with great fervor and grandeur. Before returning to his residence, Lord Ganesha is believed to grant their wishes. As per panchang, in order for Lord Ganesha to bestow happiness, love, prosperity, and abundance on his devotees, Ganesh Visarjan must be performed during Shubh Muhurat. "Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangal Murti Morya, Purva Varshi Lav Karya" is chanted while people gather their loved ones at home, perform puja and aarti with them, then carry the idol of Lord Ganesha close to the river.
Ganesh Visarjan 2025: Puja Rituals
1. Before beginning the puja rites, get up early and take a bath.
2. Clean up the house and the puja space.
3. Invite friends and family for Ganpati Visarjan Puja.
4. Make a variety of sweets and dishes.
5. Offer laddoo and modaks, light a diya with desi ghee, and put tilak and kumkum.
6. Use garland and flowers to adorn the idol.
7. Perform "Sukh Karta Dukh Harta Varta Vighnachi" and "Jai Ganesh Jai Ganesh Jai Ganesh Deva" Aartis.
8. Following the Aarti, devotees carry the idol, flowers, incense sticks, and coconut to the river or sea.
9. They accompany friends, neighbors, family, and relatives in the magnificent procession.
10. Ganpati Bappa Morya is chanted and danced by devotees.
11. They offer flowers and chocolates, crack the coconut, and perform aarti once more while lighting incense sticks.
12. Some people also prepare meals and give it to those in need.
13. Lastly, they submerge the idol of Lord Ganesha in water and ask him to return the next year to pardon whatever transgressions they may have made over these ten days.
