The Asia Cup 2025 final between India and Pakistan turned into far more than just a thrilling cricket contest. India walked away with their ninth Asia Cup crown after a five-wicket win on Sunday night, but it was the playful celebrations after the match that grabbed as much attention as the cricket itself.

Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed , known for his signature celebration where he tilts his head toward the dugout after every big wicket, sparked the drama during India’s tense chase. In the 13th over, he dismissed Sanju Samson for 24 and wasted no time flashing his trademark gesture. At that stage, India were reeling at 20/3 inside the powerplay, with Abhishek Sharma (5), Shubman Gill (12) and skipper Suryakumar Yadav (1) already back in the pavilion. Abrar’s act added fuel to an already fierce India-Pakistan rivalry and became an instant talking point.

But cricket has a way of turning tables. Chasing 147, India fought back through a calm yet commanding partnership between Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube. Varma anchored the innings with an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls, mixing patience with calculated aggression, while Dube’s brisk 33 off 22 balls kept the scoreboard moving. Their 60-run stand steadied the innings and set the stage for a tight finish. Rinku Singh eventually applied the final touch, cracking a boundary with two balls to spare to seal the win and spark wild celebrations in the Indian camp.

Earlier in the evening, Pakistan had squandered a strong start. After racing to 113/1, with Sahibzada Farhan scoring a fluent 57 and Fakhar Zaman adding a quick 46, they looked set for a total well past 170. Instead, Kuldeep Yadav produced a game-changing spell of 4/30, triggering a collapse that saw Pakistan lose their last nine wickets for just 33 runs and finish at 146 in 19.1 overs.

If the cricket was dramatic, the post-match scenes were pure theatre. As the Indian players celebrated their hard-earned victory, Arshdeep Singh, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana gleefully turned Abrar Ahmed’s own move back on him. The trio mimicked his head-tilt celebration, this time directing it toward Samson in the dugout. Arshdeep later shared a clip of the moment on Instagram with the caption “No context,” and within minutes the video went viral. Fans flooded social media with praise for the cheeky response, calling it a “bold” and “perfect” payback after weeks of intense exchanges between the two sides.

The night carried one final twist. India declined to accept the winner’s trophy from ACC president and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, reportedly over off-field tensions. The presentation ceremony was abandoned, leaving the players to mark their triumph in their own way. In a playful move, Team India posted a series of pictures celebrating without the trophy, laughing and posing as if to underline that their joy came from the win itself and from turning Abrar’s antics into a moment of their own.

India may have clinched their ninth Asia Cup title, but the 2025 final will be remembered for more than statistics. It was a night of fiery competition, sudden collapses, and a viral celebration that proved in cricket, the drama often continues long after the last ball is bowled.
