Shubman Gill Quashes 'Disciplinary Issue' Rumors At T20 World Cup, Mentions Rohit Sharma
India batter Shubman Gill recently shared a heartwarming photo on Instagram with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and his daughter Samaira, delighting fans and causing a stir online. Gill had recently been the subject of speculation after fans noticed he had unfollowed Rohit on Instagram. However, this new post seems to subtly convey that there is no rift between the two players. Currently, Gill is a reserve for Team India at the 2024 T20 World Cup and is expected to return home after the group stages.
The photo posted by Gill featured a touching caption alongside Rohit Sharma and his daughter.
"Sammy (Samaira) and I learning the art of discipline from Rohit Sharma," Gill wrote in his Instagram story.
There had also been rumors on social media about potential disciplinary issues leading to Gill's departure from the India squad. However, the Times of India debunked these claims, confirming they were false. Gill's recent post appears to further dispel any lingering doubts among fans.
Despite securing the Orange Cap in IPL 2023, Gill's sluggish start in IPL 2024 led to his exclusion from India's 15-man squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Nevertheless, by the end of IPL 2024, Gill had scored an impressive 426 runs in just 12 games.
India's Path Forward in the 2024 T20 World Cup
Team India has advanced to the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup. In this phase, Rohit Sharma's squad will compete against Australia, Afghanistan, and either Bangladesh or the Netherlands in their Super 8 group.
Having played all their group stage matches in the USA, India will now head back to the Caribbean for the remainder of the T20 World Cup.
Virat Kohli will be eager to return to form after managing only five runs in three matches so far. Rohit Sharma, who scored a fifty in the opening match against Ireland, has also struggled to maintain his form.
India will kick off their Super 8 campaign against Afghanistan on June 20.
