Adani Group's Official Denial

Guwahati, August 19: On Tuesday, the Adani Group firmly rejected allegations circulating in various media and social networks regarding the allocation of approximately 3,000 bighas of land in Dima Hasao district for a cement manufacturing facility.

In a statement, the conglomerate labeled these claims as 'baseless, false, and misleading,' emphasizing that it has no association with Mahabal Cement, the company at the heart of the dispute.

The statement further clarified, 'Associating the Adani name with Mahabal Cement is misleading. Mahabal Cement is neither owned by nor connected to the Adani Group in any capacity.'

The group urged media representatives, online platforms, and the public to verify information before disseminating unverified claims, cautioning that the spread of false information only leads to further confusion.

This clarification came in response to the widespread dissemination of news articles, social media updates, and video clips from a current hearing at the Gauhati High Court.

The situation escalated after a video featuring Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi's pointed comments during the hearing gained traction. In the clip, Justice Medhi criticized the state government's decision to allocate such a large area of land to Mahabal Cement.

'What kind of decision is this? Is this some kind of joke? How can you allocate 3,000 bighas to a company? Do you comprehend the scale of 3,000 bighas? It would cover half of the district,' Justice Medhi remarked in open court, questioning the logic behind the land allocation.

The viral video led to significant uproar across various platforms, with numerous posts erroneously linking the Adani Group to the transaction. The company's denial aims to dispel any speculation regarding its involvement in this matter.
