New Guidelines for Pilgrims Visiting Maa Naina Devi During Navratri
New Guidelines for Visiting Maa Naina Devi: The festive season of Sharadiya Navratri is in full swing, with devotees flocking to temples and Shaktipeeths to seek blessings from the Mother Goddess. If you plan to visit the renowned Shri Naina Devi Ji temple located in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, during this auspicious time, it's essential to be informed about the new regulations in place. These changes have been implemented to enhance the safety and experience of all visitors.
Complete Prohibition on Coconut Offerings
The Maa Naina Devi temple, a significant Shaktipeeth, is perched on a hill in the Bilaspur district, also known as Trikuta Dham. This year, the temple administration has enforced a strict ban on coconut offerings within the temple grounds due to security concerns arising from the large crowds expected during Navratri. Devotees attempting to bring coconuts are required to surrender them at the entrance, where they will be returned upon exiting the temple.
Focus on Safety and Convenience
According to temple priest Manish Sharma, the coconuts are collected at the entrance and returned as prasad at the exit. This measure is crucial for ensuring the safety of both the devotees and the temple environment. With the influx of visitors during the Navratri festivities, heightened security protocols have become necessary. The decision was made with the well-being of the devotees as a top priority.
Installation of Kali Mata Idol
In addition to the main deity, an idol of Kali Mata has been placed alongside Naina Devi. The temple holds historical significance, as it is believed that when Lord Shiva was carrying the body of Mata Sati, her eyes fell at this location, leading to the temple's name. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, housing the Goddess's eyes along with idols of Mahakali and Kali, symbolizing Shakti, with Lord Ganesha and Lord Kalbhairav by her sides.
A Prominent Jagrat Peeth of Shakti
This temple is recognized as a Jagrat Peeth of Shakti, where Guru Gobind Singh is said to have received blessings before his battle against the Mughals. It is a key pilgrimage destination in Himachal Pradesh, accessible via stairs and ropeways. The temple administration ensures that these measures are in place annually during the Navratri fair to prevent any incidents while respecting the religious practices of the devotees.
