Will Aadhaar Cards Older Than 10 Years Expire On June 14? Here's The Truth

Recently, numerous Instagram reels and YouTube videos have claimed that Aadhaar cards which haven't been updated in the past decade will become invalid after June 14. These assertions suggest that June 14 is the final deadline to update your Aadhaar card to avoid invalidation.

However, these claims are misleading.

Clarification from UIDAI

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), responsible for issuing Aadhaar cards, has addressed this misinformation. While UIDAI advises citizens to update their Aadhaar information if it hasn't been revised in the past 10 years, this recommendation is not linked to invalidating the cards post-June 14.

UIDAI has introduced a temporary measure allowing free updates to Aadhaar cards online until June 14. This initiative aims to encourage users to ensure their information is current and accurate.

Validity of Aadhaar Cards Post-June 14

To clarify, Aadhaar cards will not become invalid after June 14. The date merely marks the end of the free update period. After this date, cardholders can still update their information, but a fee will be applicable. Updates can be done either online or at an Aadhaar center.
