Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Launched At ₹2.29 Lakh: Price, Features And More

Royal Enfield has introduced the Himalayan 440 in India at ₹2.29 lakh, ex-showroom. The motorcycle was unveiled at the Himalayan Basecamp in Ladakh as the Himalayan nameplate completes 10 years.

Bookings begin on 4 September 2026 through authorised Royal Enfield dealerships and the company’s official website. The Himalayan 440 is positioned as a simpler and more accessible alternative to the Himalayan 450, while retaining much of the original Himalayan 411’s rugged character and upright riding position.

Familiar Design With Practical Dimensions

The Himalayan 440 stays close to the functional styling associated with the original motorcycle. It features an 800mm seat height, which should make it approachable for a broad range of riders, along with a 15-litre fuel tank designed to support longer journeys.

The motorcycle also gets a new LED headlamp and a digital-analogue instrument cluster. Tripper navigation and a USB Type-C charging port add useful technology for everyday riding and touring.

Bigger Engine and Six-Speed Gearbox

Royal Enfield has made important mechanical changes beneath the familiar design. The Himalayan 440 comes with a larger engine and a six-speed gearbox, offering a significant update over the original Himalayan 411's mechanical package.

The motorcycle is designed around adventure riding, with 200mm of front suspension travel and 180mm at the rear. It rides on a 21-inch spoked front wheel and a 17-inch spoked rear wheel, while ground clearance stands at 220mm.

Royal Enfield says the motorcycle’s low centre of gravity is intended to improve rider confidence across surfaces such as rocky trails, slush and snow.

Upgraded Brakes and Switchable ABS

The Himalayan 440 receives upgraded braking hardware, including a 300mm front disc with a two-piston floating caliper featuring larger pistons. A 240mm disc is used at the rear.

Dual-channel ABS is standard, with the system offering a switchable function to give riders greater control during off-road riding.

Touring Accessories and Colour Options

Royal Enfield will offer several accessories for the Himalayan 440, including hard panniers, a top box, touring seats, adventure handguards, engine guards and protection equipment. Adventure Engine Guards can also be paired with Sliders for additional protection.

The motorcycle is available in Sela Black, Mustang Brown and Nelong White. Initial units will carry an exclusive 10-year anniversary badge on the fuel tank.

Warranty Package

Royal Enfield is also offering a seven-year extended warranty package with Roadside Assistance across its motorcycle range. The extended coverage adds four years or 40,000km, whichever comes first, to the standard warranty. The standard coverage is three years or 30,000km.
