The Indian government is making it easier than ever to update your Aadhaar details with the launch of the new e-Aadhaar mobile application by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Users can now manage personal information, such as names, addresses, and dates of birth, directly from their smartphones, reducing the need to visit Aadhaar centres physically.

No more long queues at Aadhaar Seva Kendras to correct a minor typo or update your address. UIDAI’s new app allows updates to your name, date of birth, address, and more, all from your mobile device. Officials confirm that the app is expected to roll out before the end of this year.

What Is e-Aadhaar?

The e-Aadhaar app functions as a digital Aadhaar centre in your pocket. By combining Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Face ID technology, the app ensures secure and seamless updates. From November onwards, physical visits will only be necessary for biometric authentication, such as fingerprints or iris scans. All other updates, from correcting names to changing addresses, can be completed in a few taps.

Smarter Document Management

The app introduces automatic document fetching. Verified data from government sources including birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licences, ration cards, MNREGA records, and electricity bills can be used for updates. This eliminates repetitive document uploads, making Aadhaar updates quicker and hassle-free.

Aadhaar Good Governance Portal

In addition to the mobile app, the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal has been launched by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY). This portal streamlines the approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests, offering faster and more transparent services.

With these innovations, managing Aadhaar details has never been easier, ensuring security, convenience, and efficiency for Indian residents.
