Kidnapping Without Ransom: Gurugram Man Takes Child For Being 'Cute,' Chooses To Raise Him
What initially seemed like a serious case of abduction in Gurugram eventually unfolded into a crime committed without any financial motive.
A man approached Gurugram Police at Rajendra Park police station on February 27, alleging that an unknown individual had kidnapped his two-and-a-half-year-old son from Ram Vihar near Dhanwapur crossing in Gurugram.
The case was assigned to a team from the Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Gurugram, who meticulously reviewed CCTV footage in the vicinity where the child had disappeared. Through a combination of technological and manual surveillance, law enforcement managed to track down the accused individual to village Garhi, Gurugram. There, they apprehended the perpetrator and safely rescued the child.
Identified as Dharampal alias Bittu alias Ravana (45), a resident of village Gadhi, Gurugram, the accused confessed that his actions weren't premeditated nor driven by any desire for ransom. Dharampal disclosed that on February 27, while passing through the Ram Vihar area, he encountered the child playing alone. He admitted to finding the child adorable and made the impulsive decision to raise him as his own, promptly picking him up and disappearing from the scene.
“The child has been rescued and medically examined, after which he was handed over to the family members,” a police official said. Further investigation is still underway, the official added.
