Mumbai: Woman Alleges HR Of Private Company Demanded Sexual Favors For Her Late Father's PF Clearance
A 23-year-old woman residing in Bandra lodged a police complaint on Wednesday, claiming that the HR department of a private company solicited sexual favors from her in exchange for the release of her late father's provident fund ( PF ).
The woman, who works as a domestic helper, shares a residence with her younger brother and grandmother. Following her parents' divorce, her father passed away in 2015 when she was 15 years old. The company her father was employed with had deducted the PF, which she was entitled to receive upon turning 18 as her father had nominated her.
Despite submitting numerous forms, the woman encountered difficulties in obtaining the Provident Fund (PF). Despite being informed that her father’s file was under the company’s manager's purview, there were continued delays. Upon seeking assistance from the HR manager, she alleges he demanded sexual favors as a condition for expediting the release of her late father's PF.
In her complaint, she said, "Despite submitting multiple forms to claim the PF, I did not receive it. After being informed that my father’s file was with the company’s manager, I faced further delays. When I contacted the HR manager, he asked for sexual favours to expedite the payment." A Times of India report said.
The police confirmed that the woman had recorded these conversations, leading to the filing of an FIR against the accused under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act.
