WhatsApp To Soon Allow Users To Link Facebook Profiles For Better Social Connectivity

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that could let users add their Facebook profile links directly to their WhatsApp accounts. This integration was recently spotted in the latest beta release for Android (v2.25.26.12) and is currently under development. While the feature is not yet available to the public, it signals Meta’s push toward deeper connectivity across its platforms.
Once launched, the feature will allow users to showcase their Facebook profile icon and handle on their WhatsApp profile, similar to how Instagram accounts can be linked through the Accounts Center.
Optional for Users
Importantly, adding a Facebook profile link will remain completely optional. Users who don’t wish to connect their Facebook accounts can simply skip the feature without affecting their WhatsApp experience. This ensures flexibility for those who want greater social visibility while still giving privacy-conscious users full control.
Verified Through Accounts Center
For those who link their accounts, the integration will come with a verification option. Verified links will display a Facebook icon next to the profile link, confirming authenticity and reducing the risk of impersonation. Unverified links, on the other hand, will show a generic icon and the full URL, similar to how unverified Instagram links currently appear.
Expanding Beyond Facebook
This development could just be the beginning. Meta is likely planning to expand support for linking other social media platforms through WhatsApp in the future. Such integrations would make WhatsApp a more versatile hub for personal and professional connections, allowing users to display and verify multiple online identities seamlessly.
With billions of users already relying on WhatsApp for communication, the option to link Facebook profiles (and possibly others later) could transform how people connect and engage across Meta’s ecosystem.
