Indian Railways Launches New Trains for Maharashtra, UP and Uttarakhand; Check Routes and Details
Indian Railways has unveiled a fresh set of train services and route extensions aimed at making travel easier for passengers across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the new services via video conferencing from Bhubaneswar while reviewing railway arrangements for the upcoming Rath Yatra in Puri. The latest initiatives are expected to improve regional connectivity, cater to long-pending passenger demands and strengthen the country's rapidly expanding railway network.
New express trains announced for key routes
One of the biggest highlights is the introduction of the Nanded–Mumbai Express, which will operate through Washim and Hingoli. The new route is expected to provide better rail access for travellers across several districts in the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra, reducing travel inconvenience and improving connectivity.
Another major addition is the Tanakpur–Nanded Express, connecting Uttarakhand with Maharashtra. The service is likely to benefit thousands of passengers, particularly members of the Sikh community living in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand who frequently travel between these destinations.
Existing train services receive important upgrades
Apart from launching new trains , Indian Railways has also expanded the reach of existing services.

Speaking during the inauguration, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the newly introduced services were launched after considering repeated requests from the public. According to him, these trains will significantly improve connectivity between important regions and make rail travel more accessible.
The minister also acknowledged demands for additional stoppages at Khatima and Banbasa, stating that the Railways would examine the proposal and add these halts if operationally feasible.
